Brovanture Consultant Lydia Maksoud Shortlisted for the 2024 UKOUG Women in Tech Award
Malcolm Brock
Managing Director
Congratulations to our Brovanture colleague Lydia Maksoud who has been shortlisted for the 2024 UKOUG Women in Tech Award.
This award recognises a female making significant strides in the tech industry within the Oracle community, serving as a role model and advocate for gender diversity.
Lydia has been instrumental in the setting up of our women@brovanture initiative and takes a very active role in the group. (https://brovanture.com/services/womenbrovanture/) This is a female employee group dedicated to the betterment of all women through education, opportunity creation and charitable work. They meet regularly to promote women in tech and have supported Community Chest (https://www.comchest.org.za/) and Young Women’s Trust (https://www.youngwomenstrust.org/) through fund raising activities like taking part in the Thames Moonlight 10 mile walk.
Originally recruited by Brovanture on our Student Placement Scheme and on achieving her First Class BSc (Hons) Mathematics from the University of Surrey Lydia joined our Graduate Development Scheme. Following this she has taken a leading role in recruiting and supporting more young people in these schemes. She is a key mentor to our scheme participants and takes a particular interest in supporting female members to ensure they are successful and enjoy working at Brovanture. Testimony to her efforts is that our workforce is now 43% female.
Lydia also takes an active role in raising the profile of women in the Oracle community through sharing her knowledge through her engagement, speaking and writing about Oracle Cloud EPM. She has spoken multiple times at UKOUG conferences in the UK and Kscope in the USA. Lydia has her own blog on all things Oracle EPM and has published over 40 blogs. She also regularly engages with Oracle Customer Connect where she has accrued 6,100 points. Her contribution to the Oracle community was recognised when she was appointed an Oracle Ace in October 2023.
All of us at Brovanture send Lydia our best wishes for success with this nomination.
Until next time.
Malcolm
