Taking Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service Beyond Finance
Malcolm Brock
Managing Director Brovanture
Much is talked about broadening the horizons of planning, budgeting and forecasting and how organisations should adopt a truly ‘enterprise’ approach that creates an integrated process across all of the functions involved. The reality is that many start with this good intention but stall once they have what they need for financial reporting.
At Brovanture, we are pleased to be able to tell a very different story today with the release of an Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS) case study in conjunction with Maxxium UK, one of the country’s most dynamic and innovative premium spirits companies. Maxxium UK’s portfolio of products are immediately recognisable including The Famous Grouse, Teacher’s and Cutty Sark blended scotch, The Macallan, Laphroaig, Highland Park and Bowmore single malts, Jim Beam bourbon and Canadian Club Canadian whisky.
We have worked with Maxxium UK for many years focussing on the delivery of financial reporting and provided the implementation skills to help them transition from Oracle Essbase, the market-leading OLAP tool, to Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS). In addition to implementing what we would describe as traditional finance solutions, Maxxium UK has moved a stage further and has implemented PBCS applications that move beyond finance into sales, marketing and customer service.
These applications have been developed to provide the whole business with in-depth and useful sales and market knowledge which both drives, and is aligned with, their finance data. For example, one of the applications analyses Nielsen market data against historic performance. Another application analyses POS data from some of the UK’s leading supermarkets (they need no further advertising from me) on a weekly basis, which allows Maxxium UK sales and account managers to view key customer metric information through the customer lens. This data can be accessed via tablet and gives Maxxium UK the ability to have more meaningful conversations with these customers around pricing and promotions.
PBCS offers clients an extraordinary platform for growth by connecting finance and other departments within organisations, removing silo walls and creating a modern partnership approach to the role of finance in businesses today. Brovanture, the 1st Oracle Fully Certified Cloud Excellence implementer (CEI) for EPM Enterprise Planning and Budgeting in the UK & IRL, is pleased to be at the forefront of Oracle’s cloud offerings delivering the market-leading PBCS system in the UK and beyond.
